5 Upcoming VR Games to Check Out in August 2022!

The world of VR gaming is already pretty vast, and over time, it’s only set to become more and more popular as people demand new immersive experiences to get their synapses firing! Let’s take a look at 5 upcoming VR titles releasing in August that you’re gonna want to check out!

1. STRANGER

Well first on our list and one that personally caught my eye is none other than STRANGER, a survival horror game by Lost Frame Development . The premise of STRANGER isn’t anything lavish or particularly original, but that’s not the point. Players are tasked with protecting themselves from a menacing masked intruder attempting to break into their home. In STRANGER you’ll be able to use a limited supply of locks to prevent your assailant from gaining entry, and of course you’ll need to use your wits and look and listen carefully to figure out exactly where your uninvited currently guest is.

Players will also be able to latch windows, reset the power and take other steps to stop the intruder from successfully gaining entry. The goal is to survive the night and make it through to 6 AM. So do you have what it takes?

STRANGER promises to be a chilling experience for players as they roam the dark passageways of their home armed with nothing but a torch to light their way. The game has been built using Unreal Engine 5, so the graphics and visual effects should really put you in the thick of things. Just don’t die of a heart attack or run into a wall or something, OK?

The slated Release Date for STRANGER is August 11 2022

2. Ultrasclash V

You might be sitting there thinking “Where’s Ultrasclash 1, 2, 3 and 4?” Well that’s because the V (and I’m just guessing here) is for Virtual? Surely? Anyway, Ultrasclash V is a “physics-based, fast pace, high octane anime combat!!!” No that’s not a typo, that’s how they described it. And all I can say is, it sounds like the perfect VR experience.

Yes in Ultrasclash V you’ll go toe to toe with hordes of uh, cactus head policemen, stupid minions and…giant dinosaurs? Nice! I love nothing more than the prospect of getting on the top rope of a wrestling ring and doing my best flying clothesline at a T-Rex. I mean, what could go wrong?

Despite its obviously insane and humorous plot (or lack thereof?), Ultrasclash V looks like a colorful, adrenaline-filled thrill-ride complete with a pulse pounding soundtrack to help you vanquish your absurdly dressed enemies in a single mighty blow!

If you manage to avoid putting a fist of ultimate rage (TM) through your drywall, you’ll probably find yourself laughing your ass off and having the time of your life. This one should be fun to stream, so maybe we’ll get Reece on that, yeah?

The slated Release Date for Ultrasclash V is August 15 2022

3. Bull3000VRTS

I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this before, but Bull3000VRTS is actually a Virtual Reality Real-Time Strategy game (at least according to its developer Robin Krause). Yup, you read that right. Think of it as Command & Conquer , but in VR.

Bull3000VRTS is set in a dystopian future in the year 3000 (hence the name). As with traditional RTS games, players have their various buildings that they will need to construct in order to produce units such as battle tanks, drones, attack helicopters and infantry. You’ll also need to carefully manage your assets and economy or you may quickly find yourself up a creek without a paddle.

The difference here is that Bull3000VRTS is all in VR, so you’ll prepare units, direct them to certain areas and manage everything using your hands! Moreover, the better you aim, the better your army will perform against your enemy! And of course you’ll also need to outwit your opponent using a carefully devised strategy in order to claim victory!

I have to admit I’ve never considered playing an RTS in VR, but it’s definitely an interesting concept. I wonder if bigger developers and more established names will explore this format in the future? Either way, if you want to try it out for yourself, then Bull3000VRTS is the VRTS game for you!

The slated release date for Bull3000VRTS is August 22 2022

4. Spy Robot: Gateways to Humanity

Now what list of upcoming VR games would be complete without an FPS eh? This offering comes direct from Ceospet Games and features action, hacking, stealth and flight as you take on the role of the one and only Spy Robot. Charged with the arduous task of recovering what remains of the human race scattered across the galaxy, players will need to find all of the cryo chambers in each level and use their hacking tool to shrink them and pick them up (interesting mechanic, no?)

As for hacking, players can shrink cryo chambers or enemies, send enemy robots to sleep, or even have enemy robots fight for them. The only caveat is that each hack only lasts for 60 seconds, so you’ll need to pick and choose your battles and decide what works best in each situation. There’s also the ability to use ‘logic bombs’ that cause enemies to explode after a short period of time.

And if you want to know more about weapons and gadgets, well, there’s the gravity gun, gateway gun, the hack tool itself and a simple but reliable pistol. As for environments, they seem to consist of well-rendered but generally uninteresting passages for the most part, but judging from the few screenshots that are currently available, there should be several points of interest to keep players entertained.

Admittedly Spy Robot doesn’t look like the most fast paced game out there, but it’s definitely an interesting concept and one that I’m sure many players will find thoroughly entertaining.

The slated release date for Spy Robot: Gateways to Humanity is August 26 2022

5. Tomboy Adventure

Nothing like a little VR romance and nostalgia, right? Well never fear boys (and girls?), if you can’t find one in real life, then you can invest all of your time and effort into Tomboy Adventure by tomboyDrive . What more could you want than to spend time with a cute waifu on a beautiful remote island? Maybe a sandwich? Anyway, in Tomboy Adventure, you get to hang out with and do a lot of fun stuff with your VR girl-friend Natsumi.

Isn’t she cute?

Now bear in mind that I didn’t say “girlfriend” because, well, Natsumi isn’t your girlfriend (yet). She’s your friend, and she’s a girl, so she’s your girl-friend. Oh what? You thought you could just put on a VR headset and have a girlfriend? Nope, you still gotta work for it my friends. In truth you’ve been friends with Natsumi for years, but the relationship never moved beyond that.

But now’s your chance to shine and woo the hell outta this pretty little anime girl. As you move through the games dialogue and activities such as camping and fishing, you’ll graduate from headpatting to advanced headpatting in no time at all (or maybe it’ll take a little longer if your headpatting game is weak, I don’t know).

Anyway, can’t say I’ve ever tried a dating sim, but if I was going to pick a VR game to try it out, it would be this one for sure. Oh, and as a bonus, you can also play Tomboy Adventure without a VR headset, so if you don’t have one yet, rejoice, for providence has smiled on you this day!

The slated release date for Tomboy Adventure is August 30 2022

Plenty of Choices in August!

And that’s the end of this August VR gaming forecast. I’m pretty sure there’s something in this list that’ll appeal to your tastes. If none of these really grab you, fret not, for September and October and every month thereafter are on the way, so there’s a ton of releases still undergoing development. So with that, I bid you farewell. Be sure to let us know what you think of these VR games on our socials and be sure to show their developers some love when you can!
