NFTs have earned a notorious reputation as of late, but apparently many celebrities didn’t get the memo. High-profile names from all over the map have been jumping into the game and showing their true degen nature. With the likes of Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Tony Hawk, and even Gordon Ramsay joining the Metaverse, it’s become the hottest new trend, and everyone wants a piece of the action. While the aforementioned pop culture focused celebrities fit a general mold and are known for taking chances with technology, this latest addition to the team is something of a wildcard…

Sir Anthony Hopkins Is Launching an NFT Collection

Orange Comet recently announced a new partnership with Sir Anthony Hopkins to launch a new NFT collection known as “The Eternal Collection.” This new series of releases will feature iconic character archetypes that were made famous by Sir Anthony Hopkins in his various award-winning films. The collection will include thought-provoking artistic interpretations of these iconic roles in partnership with Sir Anthony Hopkins, who is no stranger to the art scene. Having emerged as a fascinating new talent in 2005, his paintings have become immensely popular with collectors all over the world and have evolved into a distinguished collection.

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Orange Comet Announce “The Eternal Collection”

Sir Anthony Hopkins is best known for his illustrious film career that features a wide range of must-see classics including “Silence of the Lambs,” “Hannibal,” “The Wolfman,” and even recent blockbuster films in Marvel’s “Thor” franchise. He has also featured in television series like “Westworld” and even stepped behind the camera with credits as producer, director, and even composer. To say that he is a world-class artist would be an understatement, and it will be interesting to see him bring his talents to NFTs and the Metaverse with this new collection.

The Eternal Collection

The Eternal Collection will feature 3 separate releases, each with a different piece of the collection. These releases are broken down into days, each of which will see the minting of a category of art. Let’s take a look at what information we have so far for each of the days.

Day 1: The Iconic Category

The first release in the collection with be for a 1 of 1 animated NFT featuring all 10 of the archetypes in the full collection. It features framed prints of the art, a lunch with Sir Anthony Hopkins himself, an autographed copy of Dreamscapes, a book featuring his original art, and an exclusive audio clip where they discuss the archetypes in the collection.

As a 1 of 1 with only 1 available in a collection from such a renowned actor, this one is bound to be well out of reach for most collectors.

Day 2: The Legendary Category

The second release will feature ten 1 of 1 animation NFTs, each featuring 1 individual category of the archetypes. Buyers will also get an intimate discussion on Discord with Mr. Hopkins, framed prints, an autographed copy of Dreamscapes, and the audio clip from the first collection.

With 10 available and the “intimate” conversation only being on Discord, it’s hard to tell what the demand will be for this particular collection. If I had to guess, I would imagine it’ll still be quite competitive.

Day 3: The Distinguished Category

The third and final collection consists of 1,000 unique 1 of 1 images that will feature a random variant from a pool of 100 variants for each of the individual archetypes. What’s more, 39 random buyers out of this category will receive an autographed copy of Dreamscapes, while 5 randomly selected buyers will be invited to join the Discord discussion. Finally, all buyers will receive the exclusive audio clip that discusses the archetypes.

With 1,000 available and the rewards being on the lower side, this collection should be fairly obtainable for most collectors. If you’re a die-hard fan of Sir Anthony Hopkins, I would try targeting this collection in particular as it’ll obviously be the most affordable.

Launch Info and Should You Buy?

No release information has been revealed yet, but you can sign up at their official collection website to stay informed and get notified of the release date when it’s made available. They also haven’t released specifics on how the mint/auction will work, so that’s another factor to keep an eye on. As to whether or not you should buy it, that’s a personal decision. Celebrity NFT launches can be hit or miss, and we’ve seen them go both ways in the past. Some collections like Snoop Dogg’s avatars for The Sandbox sold out easily. Others, like Kevin Hart’s NFT avatars …not so much.

On the positive side, Orange Comet seems to have a decent reputation and has partnered with other brands like The Walking Dead, so you won’t have to worry about any scams or rug pulls here. This is a real company with a lot on the line, which means they will do everything in their power to make the launch a complete success.

With Sir Anthony Hopkins being an Academy Award-winning actor, a prominent artist, and a visionary of his time, it does lend a bit more confidence in the collection. I would just caution you to make sure you actually like the artwork. Personally, I think it’s kind of weird, and I’m not a huge fan. But then again, I thought Bored Apes were ugly when they launched too, so don’t listen to me! Either way, it’s great to see someone of this caliber showing confidence in NFTs, especially in a major bear market.

So what do you think? Is this a good move for Sir Anthony Hopkins, or will launching an NFT collection tarnish his amazing career? Let us know your thoughts!
