In a metaverse that never sleeps, everyone is well aware of The Sandbox and their signature voxel graphics. The exploration game has introduced more experiences and features with each of their alpha seasons, and the Season 3 Alpha is no exception. In what promises to be the biggest alpha season yet, players will get to enjoy a range of new activities, and on top of this, there’ll be more branded avatars than ever before! So let’s take a look at what’s in store and what you’ll need to do to join in on all the fun!
How to Join the Season 3 Alpha
Joining The Sandbox for the Season 3 Alpha is easy. The Sandbox requires players to connect to the game using a cryptocurrency wallet. Currently the game supports MetaMask , Coinbase , Bitski , and Venly . Each of these wallets have their perks, but if you prefer, you can just follow the registration guides in order to set up your Sandbox account.
As a P2E (Play-to-Earn) game, The Sandbox is also using this season as a way to reward players with SAND, the utility token for The Sandbox Ecosystem. In order to qualify for these rewards, players will need to complete levels during Season 3 as well as a KYC process. In the Season 3 Alpha Blog , The Sandbox team states that the verification is necessary to ensure a fairer process that will prevent players from using multiple accounts for rewards (or any other cheating mechanism for that matter).
Return of the Brands
What makes this particular season different from those in the past is the inclusion of multiple brands and events going on during the 10-week alpha season.
Throughout each week, players will be able to attend multiple experiences taking place within The Sandbox. These are large scale events that let players discover different facets of The Sandbox’s ever-expanding metaverse. Party with Steve Aoki, fight through hordes of zombies in The Walking Dead experience, or explore a special BAYC event. In addition to these 90+ different experiences, players can complete 650+ quests either solo or in multiplayer.
As for Avatars, players won’t be lacking when it comes to customization options. This season will feature 140,000 different Avatars from popular collections like BAYC, Moonbirds, Cool Cats, Gutter Cats, World of Women, CyberKongz, RTFKT, People of Crypto, as well as Snoop Dogg’s and Steve Aoki’s avatar collections.
You’ll also be able to create your own Avatar. Although customization options at the time of writing are somewhat limited, it’s entirely possible that more options will be added in the not-too-distant future.

Kicking off Alpha Season 3!
The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 officially starts today and will run for the next 10 weeks. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how these highly-curated experiences will translate for the playerbase and how major companies end up navigating the space.
As companies continue to expand their metaverse strategies, we can see that Ubisoft is already looking to gain a foothold in the sector. In collaboration with The Sandbox, Ubisoft is bringing the Rabbids into the metaverse in the “Rabbids Invasion” that will take place during Alpha Season 3.
